William Ross
died in 1833 in what is now Des Moines County.
He was first buried about a half mile west of the
Mississippi River, within the bounds of what was
afterwards made the public square in the city of
Burlington. Two sons had his body reinterred on
the farm of Colonel William Morgan some three miles
south west of where he was first buried. His
grave was thought by some to have been within the
bounds of what became known as the Old Burlington
Cemetery long ago vacated and is now the site of
Burlington High School. |
