Meetings

 

Chapter meetings are held the third Saturday of the month except for July and August.

 

Meetings include: the ritualistic openings, devotions, patriotic recitations, as well as the reading of the President General’s Message and the National Defense Report.  Reports are presented by the Chapter Chairmen of the Committees.  Guest speakers as well as members provide interesting programs relating to a wide variety of subjects.  This year's subjects include the following:

 

Iowa Junior Activities and Opportunities

Tour of Historic Churches

Indian Artifacts

Christmas Remembrance

Celebrating Jamestown's 400th Birthday

Recognition Tea (Awards to be presented: DAR Good Citizens,

    American History Essays, Christopher Columbus Essays,

    American History Teacher, and Community Service

Surprise Historical Personage

Women in History

Tour of Iowa Welcome Center and Harrison County Museum

United States Flag


The Council Bluffs Chapter is an active chapter and in February, the Good Citizens, American History Essays, Christopher Columbus Essays, American History Teacher and Community Service awards are presented at a recognition Tea.  The chapter also Supports Historic Preservation, Promotes Education, and Fosters Patriotism.
