Hannah Lee Chapter, NSDAR

Welcome to beautiful Northeast Iowa.

It is with great pride that the Hannah Lee Chapter, NSDAR, celebrated its 100th anniversary with a special open house at the West Union American Legion. Mabel T. Ainsworth organized our chapter on December 26, 1919. Chapters in Waucoma, Postville, Elkader, Oelwein, Strawberry Point, Charles City, Independence, and Dubuque have disbanded over the years, but Hannah Lee Chapter, NSDAR, is active and strong. Members currently live in nine Iowa counties, California, Arizona and Taiwan.

We are located in West Union, but represent six counties of the northeast corner of Iowa. Our area includes the beautiful Driftless Area which is bounded on the east by the Mississippi River and transitions into the flat plains for which Iowa is known. The pioneer spirit of our ancestors is present in our love of the land, patriotism, dedication to our schools and communities, and our desire to keep what is best from the past and the present for the future. If you would like to join our chapter, please contact hannahleedar@gmail.com for more information.
