Thomas Rhodes was born July 4, 1756,
in Loudoun County, Virginia.
He died October 1848, near
Bonaparte, Van Buren County, Iowa.
Van Buren County Chapter DAR
received permission from the
Bonaparte Cemetery Association to
place a monument for him near the
flag pole in the Bonaparte Cemetery.
A government marker was dedicated in
1969. His service was in the First
Virginia State Regiment
