The Flag of the United States of America Committee

Ann Ghabel, Chairman

Over 100 years ago, this committee was established to promote a deep patriotic sense of respect for our flag. So in 1909, NSDAR presented this committee with these principle objectives to keep the flag flying and to protect it continuously under all conditions, as well as to educate citizens regarding its correct usage.

Chapters may support these objectives by:

  • Purchase a flag flown at our headquarters building; Constitution Hall or Memorial Continental Hall.
  • Include a “Flag Minute” at each chapter meeting.
  • Know and Distribute NSDAR’s “The Flag Code” leaflet.
  • Flag certificate
  • Present Flag Certificates to recognize and show appreciation to individuals and groups who show respectful and correct flag usage.
  • Present a Braille Flag to a blind or sight-impaired veteran or community member.
  • Fly your flag and celebrate flag holidays!
Present an NSDAR flag certificate! Consider doing it monthly. You may purchase one for $2.00.  See the DAR Store -- https://shop.dar.org/dar-store/awards-membership-and-office-supplies/?sort=featured&page=3.

Thank you for all that you do to promote patriotism in your communities!
Ann Ghabel
