It is our job as Daughters of this great organization to Celebrate Stars and Stripes Forever! If the past two years have taught us anything it is that we must preserve our heritage for future generations. We can start small, in our own communities. The DAR Historic Preservation Grant program provides financial support for local projects which demonstrates our mission of historic preservation. Funding these local projects creates awareness of NSDAR and your local chapters’ involvement in the community. Daughters who participate in this program will experience a sense of pride that will attract other prospective members.

The following awards and projects are available:

  1. Historic Preservation Medal
  2. Historic Preservation Grants
  3. Historic Preservation Recognition Award
  4. Excellence in Historic Preservation Certificate
  5. Historic Preservation Project Contest
  6. Historic Sites and Property Preservation
The required application form an be found:  https://dar.academicworks.com/users/flexible/sign_in

The application must also contain a sponsorship letter on organization letterhead and signed by the NSDAR chapter or state regent. Only grant applications strictly conforming to the application requirements will be judged.

This year’s grant applications must be submitted online between June 1–December 31, 2022. Early submissions may be reviewed by the National Chair for compliance with the grant requirements and changes allowed if corrected by December 31, 2022. Successful grantees will be notified by May 1, 2023.

I am excited to see what your local chapters do in your communities. Please reach out if you have any questions.
