Patriot Soldiers Buried in Iowa

Cedar County

Martin Linn

Martin Linn was born about 1762.  His service is not proved, but Linn was supposedly from New York State and served with George Washington at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.  He came to Iowa Territory and was in Muscatine County a short time before moving to Cedar County.  Martin Linn died in 1844 and was buried in Tipton at the Old Tipton Cemetery, Tipton, Iowa.  This cemetery is no longer in use because a school building was erected on the site.  Most of the remains of those buried there have been moved to the present Tipton Cemetery known as the Masonic Cemetery.
