The National
Society of the Daughters of the American
Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) is a non-profit,
non-political, volunteer women's service
organization. The Mus-Quo-Ta Chapter was
organized October 14, 1977, in Muscatine,
Iowa. Our chapter name Mus-Quo-Ta is
a word derived from the language of the
Muscoutin Indians who once inhabited this
area. The word means "prairie"; and in
combination with the French term of
"tine," it became the first spelling of
our city's name of "Musquitine," later
spelled "Muscatine."

The
chapter has placed a display
in the Muscatine Art Museum to
celebrate the 125th
anniversary of DAR.
