The DAR, founded in 1890, is a
volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism,
preserving American History, and securing America's future through better
education for our children.
As the most inclusive lineal society in the country, DAR boasts 170,000 members in 3,000 chapters across the United States and internationally.
Most of our chapter's members live in the Des Moines area. However, since we are the oldest chapter in the state, our members are located all over the country and Mexico. We are very proud to have several members serving and/or who have served on the state and national level. They are as follows:
